Jonas Björkman will be joining us at Soneva Fushi from April 4 to April 9, continuing to Soneva Jani from April 9 to April 14.
Jonas Björkman is a Swedish former professional tennis player with a highly successful career in both singles and doubles, known for his nine Grand Slam doubles titles. Björkman was ranked World No. 1 in doubles, a position he achieved on July 9, 2001, and World No. 4 in singles, a career-high he reached in 1997. Over his 18-year career, he won six singles titles and an impressive 54 doubles titles on the ATP Tour, including a rare career Grand Slam in men’s doubles.
Björkman’s singles highlights include reaching the semifinals at the US Open in 1997 and, notably, at Wimbledon in 2006, where at 34, he was the oldest player to reach that stage since Jimmy Connors in 1987. Following his retirement from professional play in 2008, he has remained involved in the sport, serving in coaching roles for players like former World No. 1 Andy Murray and Marin Čilić. Björkman has also worked as a tennis commentator and served as a captain for Sweden’s national padel team.
