A Home for All Seasons

The Maldives’ incredible weather ensures that you and your loved ones can enjoy your Soneva Private Residence all year round. Throughout the year, there are around eight hours of sunshine every day, with temperatures averaging a balmy 25 to 30°C, only dropping by a few degrees at night.

Each season has its own unique charms: the dry season, with low humidity, cloudless blue skies and great visibility for divers, takes place between December and April; the annual south-west monsoon usually arrives between May and November, with the rain bringing the forest canopy to life in a rainbow of colour, steady off-shore breezes creating ideal surfing conditions at the shoreline and changing ocean conditions welcoming an abundance of manta rays and whale sharks.

A Stable System

Now politically stable and experiencing unprecedented economic growth, the World Bank has called the Maldives a ‘development success story’. Since gaining independence in 1965, the Maldives has evolved from an under-developed economy into an upper middle-income country, with a transparent legal system and a strong GDP growth averaging approximately 7.5 percent over the last 15 years.

Remote Yet Accessible

Surrounded by the tranquil waters of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives’ central global location makes it easy to reach from the world’s major travel hubs, with direct connectivity to the Middle East, India, Europe and the Far East, and networks that extend to the Americas, Africa and Australasia.

Both Soneva Fushi in the Baa Atoll, and Soneva Jani in the Noonu Atoll, are remote areas of outstanding natural beauty, yet are easily accessed via a number of domestic airports. Short, scenic seaplane flights operate throughout the day between Malé’s Velana International Airport, Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani – taking you over azure waters and the archipelago’s iconic ring-shaped reefs, known as ‘faru’.

You can also choose to arrive at Maafaru International Airportin the Noonu Atoll – which is just a five-minute speedboat transfer to Soneva Jani, or a short speedboat ride or seaplane flight to Soneva Fushi. An alternative route to Soneva Fushi is on a domestic transfer (via wheeled plane) from Malé to Dharavandhoo Airport, which is a 10-minute speedboat ride to the resort.
