Water Sports

We offer a range of complimentary non-motorised water sports at Soneva Fushi. This includes kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing and catamaran sailing. Private tuition is available at an additional charge on an hourly basis.

Diving

Snorkel with Manta Rays​

Join us as we search for the enigmatic, graceful, inquisitive and charismatic manta rays in the waters of the Baa Atoll. If the conditions are right, we will go to Hanifaru Bay, located only 20 minutes by speedboat from Soneva Fushi, which has one of the world’s largest population of manta rays. When time and tide align, fortunate snorkellers get to observe and capture a rolling, whirling feast where it may be possible to see hundreds of these large, yet harmless, creatures congregate to gorge themselves in the plankton-rich waters. There are also several other locations close to Soneva Fushi where manta sightings are common, so the exact itinerary of the trip may vary to maximize the chance of seeing these magnificent creatures. If mantas cannot be seen on the trip, the Marine Biologists will lead an underwater discovery tour to showcase the stunning scenery of the marine life in the Baa Atoll. *Manta sightings are frequent but not guaranteed.

Dolphin Sled

The Dolphin Sled experience, the only one of its kind in the Maldives, on Soneva in Aqua is a unique way to explore the magnificent underwater world and encounter curious dolphins along the way. As you fly through the depths on a glider, there’s no need to hold on – the supporting seat means you only use your hands to adjust your descent and ascent. With minimal effort, you can relax and stay under the water for much longer periods of time, taking in those magnificent subaquatic views. Dolphins are fascinated by the sled, and will swim right up to take a friendly look. Guests wanting to try the Dolphin Sled experience will need to be able to swim and should be comfortable in the water without a life jacket.  

eFoil, eSurf & Seabob

Experience the ocean with complete freedom. Gliding, diving, skimming – all of this is possible with a SEABOB. Learn to move through the water like a fish, on the surface and beneath the waves. The SEABOB is environmentally friendly, moving powerfully and almost silently as you explore the marine world. eFoils use an advanced battery to power a silent electric motor that is mounted on an all-carbon fibre hydrofoil, which can be controlled with a wireless Bluetooth hand controller. Riders, from beginners to those already skilled on a board, can fly for over an hour of fun at speeds of up to 40km per hour! What happens if you fit a surfboard with a motor? You get an eSurf-board with a carbon fibre body that is hydrodynamic and stable. The board also houses the motor, and you control the handheld throttle. The eSurf lets you get up to speeds of 56km per hour, making this an exhilarating water sport.

Noonu Atoll Guided Snorkelling​

Take an aquatic adventure through the waters of the Noonu Atoll and discover the diversity of Maldivian marine life, guided by our resident Marine Biologist. The atoll-native sea turtles and rays may make a special appearance, as you experience the magnificence of life below the sea.

Sunset Dolphin Cruise

Enjoy an out-of-this-world experience watching playful dolphins in the light of the setting sun. Cruise into deeper water while indulging in a selection of canapés and sparkling wine, making wonderful memories along the way. Although dolphin sightings are not guaranteed, we know their favourite areas to play.
