Peter Michael Winery

Paul Michael, owner of California’s acclaimed Peter Michael Winery, will take our guests at Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani on a virtual wine journey on November 19, 2021. Alongside our expert sommeliers, he will showcase the winery’s vision to honour the health of the ecosystem and belief that the ability to create exceptional wine is entirely dependent on the stewardship of the land that produces it.

Paul Michael’s father, Sir Peter Michael, had a singular vision when he launched Peter Michael Winery in 1983: to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. Today, the winery produces 15 wines in four varietal categories. All but one are estate-grown in the winery’s mountainside vineyards, and all are crafted by hand and in limited production. The company is guided by the patience that good wine requires and a love and respect for their land. The founding vision of terroir-driven, handmade wines in the classic European tradition comes alive under the direction of the winery’s chief winemaker, Robert Fiore. He uses time-honoured winemaking methods such as French oak barrels, battônage native yeasts, and hand sorting of grapes, practices that require small-lot, limited production.
