Kate Polenok, Area Den Manager, the Maldives
Imagine standing in front of the unknown, choosing which door to pick. There are three, so choose wisely.
The door takes you through the magic tunnel, and right into the Den – home to fun, learning, and incredible experiences.
As you walk in, the view takes your breath away. There is everything any child can think of – with Uno and Jengas on the leaf-shaped tables, a huge pool with a water slide, a mini-zip line, a music room, an arts and crafts corner that challenges you to use your imagination. As you go upstairs, there’s more to come – a dress-up room with costumes, hats, and a finger puppet theater; and the beautiful Lego room, where you can spend hours building cities or spaceships.
As you are exploring, meet our Den Hosts – Naadi, Riffy, Rio, and YinYin. In just a few minutes they will announce the first activity of the day, the Colour Experiment. It’s time to go join them in the kitchen, where they will show you how the colours mix and match, and how you can use this in your art projects.
Fun in the sun and in the sea
Once you are finished experimenting, it’s time to get changed and put your sunscreen on, as the fun has just begun! The children and the Hosts head to the Watersports Champa, where an inflatable sofa is all set and ready to take the group Fun Tubing. What fun it is to get splashed by water as you shout at the boat crew to go faster!
Salty and sandy, the group heads back to The Den, and everyone can’t help but feel a little peckish. What will you do – go and meet your family for lunch, or stay in The Den and get a wood-fired pizza or fish and rice delivered by our In-Villa Dining? The choice is yours!
What a lovely bunch of coconuts
After lunch and some fun in the pool, the afternoon activities begin. Are you excited to know all about coconuts? A gardener comes by to show you how the coconuts are collected. Of course, everyone helps him pull the rope high up to the top of the coconut tree, and then everyone slowly lets go, lowering a bunch of freshly cut coconuts onto the ground safely. What a joy it is to put your straw in one and drink the refreshing coconut water.
Sweet treats on a stick
The last activity of the day is the most exciting – Cooking Class! Today we will be making Marshmallow Kebabs. Take a kebab stick and use the marshmallows, mangos, bananas, and strawberries to make your delicious snack, and then decorate it with chocolate sauce and different kinds of sprinkles and toppers. Don’t forget to wash off your chocolate moustache after!
The end of the day
Another swim in the pool, or, perhaps, a game of Battleship, and – uh-oh – it’s time to go back to your parents. The three doors close until 10 o’clock tomorrow. But don’t worry, we’ll meet you later tonight in The Observatory and together we’ll spot the beautiful constellations in the night sky. Who knows, maybe we’ll even see Cassiopeia!
