The Noonu Atoll in The Maldives

The Noonu Atoll is a collection of 71 islands north of Malé. Only 13 of the islands are home to parts of the population of approximately 10,500. The numerous deserted islands are perfect for castaway picnics and private diving and snorkelling spots. Diving and snorkelling around the atoll is the best way to see grey reef sharks in numbers of upwards of 20, a rare sight even in the Maldives. They congregate around the Orimas Thila cleaning station and Christmas Tree Rock. Look out here for eagle and marble rays, as well as soldierfish and blue-lined snapper in quieter areas. Yellow-lined snapper, trevally and tuna also frequent the area around Christmas Tree Rock.
